"No Keys", Green Naftali Gallery, June 21-23, 2007

Choreography, Music, Lighting Design, Costumes and Wall Drawings: Nancy Garcia
Performers: Biba Bell, Jacqueline Fritz, Nancy Garcia, Jessie Gold and Jean Marie Leary
Installation Assistance: Nick Hasty
Duration: 85 minutes
Description: Drawing inspiration from my background in New York’s experimental music community, I created 45-minutes worth of movement and sound and “looped” it one time over. The piece was performed twice a day for three days at Greene Naftali Gallery, and the audience was invited to walk freely through the space during the performance.

Through dance and live sound within and throughout four rooms, five performers activate the spaces with various rhythms using movement, electric guitars and vocal sounds. Amidst guitar cables and a sound installation, sisters sing deconstructed versions of their favorite songs. You'll watch their relationships to each other in action, reproducing themselves and destroying old forms of themselves through repetition.

"localstwang", Movement Research’s About Town at Dance Theater Workshop (NYC), January 2006

Direction and Concept: Nancy Garcia
Development and Performance: Nancy Garcia and Jessie Gold
Description:Inspired by the city of Miami, Florida, localstwang, is the result of the process of composing dance and music simultaneously. Using contact microphones connected to guitar effects pedals and amplifiers, the dancers affect changes in the sound throughout the performance.
This piece toured through various venues in California and showed in New York venues such as Exit Art Gallery (La Superette Festival), Chashama (Movement Research Festival), and Dance Theater Workshop (Movement Research’s About Town Series).
